A confused stand on Tharoor

I know everyone and everything in Kerala is now talking or writing or tweeting or social networking about Tharoor. I thought I will blog my bit.

My stance on the issue – that’s the problem. I am confused. Used to like him as a writer long back. When he planned to enter politics, just like many others, I too thought an educated and experienced man could make a difference. But somewhere along the line – during campaign and afterwards – I felt this hypocrisy. A smiling pleasant face which was somehow not genuine enough – the smile or the pleasance I mean.

I am politically quite ignorant and I have no knowledge to make any comments about his political career or the controversies he ended up in – the cattle class or the Nehru stuff or even the IPL franchise. I hear the story and then a hundred thousand remarks and still stay baffled, with all of it going right above my head. My feeling comes only – too naïve to say this – but it is only a gut feeling. The way he looks at everyone, the way he sits fiddling with his mobile (tweeting?) for most press conferences when someone else is making a speech, the way he expresses, smiles – just all of it gives the impression of someone doing a job he doesn’t really like. It is a whole air of artificiality that I smell.

I am not here to do positive or negative campaigning. Cause like I say I simply don’t know enough. I wasn’t happy or sad when he lost the seat. When I hear all my friends saying how sad it was, when I see some others saying he deserves it – I stand without an opinion. It is good to have educated people to govern us, it is good to have experienced people to lead us, it is good to have well-read articulate leaders to guide us. But all I look for in people – in politics or in any other job, in persons I get to meet and those who are my friends – is genuineness. I just want them to be real, in all senses.

Now my gut feeling is trivial. You don’t judge a political controversy by gut feelings! So I stay silent. So why did I have to blog? Just to make my stand clear to myself – that I have the right to stay confused just like others have the right to have a clear head!

  1. HE is pedigree !
    PERIOD!….
you got a problem with that ?
    Well, …. EYHO…..!

    Eat Your Heart Out !

I know Shashi , since the days Mathew, my only mallu friend in UN,who was working as a press attache for Ethyopia, started waxing eloquence on this ‘above the cut’ Mallu, whom he predicted ‘could be’ the ‘next UN Secretary General ‘

Well… Bharath Maathaa actually DID NOT find any deserving Indian to nominate to that OSTENSIBLY PRECARIOUS, Functionally impotent , highest office of the united nations of the World!!!!???
Instead we have a MOON FACE. who BANK on…. Well… MOON!… Right ?
All b’cause, this particular Lunar Face has, had, happened to have a face and brain, as Blank as blotting paper! …. America Rules YOUR , mine too, Universe!!

    @#$!#$@@%%%&^*(**###@%$@!$$@@@%%&&!!

I am not a member of Lavlin LADEN Pinarayi’s party, who is being accompanied by Tomin Thachenkari to provide official , government security to his begging bowl, thats supposed to squeeze the camel-brained Mallu, who sweat blood in the hostile -( political, religious, humanitarian)- climate in the Middle East!

I have this habit of swinging off my hook, especially when I think I am right!

Let’s come back to Shashi Tharoor !

He is a Mallu ! Right?

Awh ! C’mon guys… he recited none other than Vallatthol, that too in chaste malayalam, (not ranjini Haridasish) … that too clad in idiotic looking Tri-colour shawl , over an equally ill-fitting ‘jubba’ … (I hope it is called that in this part of the sub-continent ?)….

That man Shashi, looks immaculate in a tie and suit ! Period!

There are only a handful of Indians who could carry themselves at his age (I am not talking about the John Abrahamish , six packed metrosexual woulves) …. A Thousand apologies for NOT minding my Language !…. – who could look Internationally elegant as would Shashi, maybe with a very possible exception of the Big B himself (not Mammootty)!

Pedigree matters you fucking Communists !

NOW that he is forced to be a career politician……

pray, Why did you … all appies in pappanaavan’s own thironthiram elect him to PARLIAMENT with a majority of votes of a hundred thousand, baffles me!

He, Shashi…. Got quickly in to the shoes of traditional politician you miserable souls are accustomed to, by bringing the IPL in to your own (God has deserted it long ago) country,
now have the ever finger-pointing pseudo saints that you are, has given you a bone of contention????????????

    well.
every people GET a LEADER they deserve you ‘cattle class’ !

and he is trying to merge…. !!!

    give him time !

Forget that he is an internationally known entity!
forget that he is a man of letters !(HE ACTUALLY WENT TO THE BEST OF SCHOOLS)
forget that he is sophisticated !
forget that he is the best !

treat him as a piece of bone….. CHEW on him !

    HE MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT,
TO GET YOUR APPRECIATION, HE HAD TO PLAY IT THE WAY YOU KNOW THE GAME !,,,,

So, Call for a Harthal, Bundh, …Whatever …!

He is a man with Grey matters, under his well kept hair !

    give him time !

if you will , you bigot mallu !

Sashi can bring glory to God’s own country, in multiple fractions and dimensions. than the aged superstar could ever dream of !

    YOU miserable Mallu,
    WAKE UP !
    SUPPORT Shashi !

    BE PROUD OF HIM !
    HE IS ONE OF YOU!
JUST HAPPENED TO HAVE MADE IT GLOBALLY KNOWN,
B 4 HE WAS FORCED TO REPRESENT YOU FROM YOUR CApital city !

  2. I’m not exactly confused.. because I never gave it a thought 😛
I have no comments on the Tharoor brouhaha
It takes all kinds to make this world.
    To each his own.
Ah! I better stop at that! I have a feeling that I’m almost about to write one of those Sri Sri Ravishankar quotes on being non-judgemental and all 😛

  4. @ Don with such ‘good sheelams’

lemme copy ‘n paste a few lines from your comment !

    1) I hate commenting on comments…

    2) He (the great international sasi) is one of us??

    3) His poem recital in the parliament was in chaste malayalam??!! which channel did you watch?

    4) i read your entire comment and still have no idea what you meant by pedigree.

    5) Well i sure am proud of him as a Malaylee.

    6) That he looks good in a suit? i thot that was the symbol of pedigree 50 years back.

    NOW …

@ 1) …. sometimes we have to do things we really hate !

@2)…YOUR COMMENT no.5 answers that adequately ! or does it really? …. doesn’t it ?

@3)… does different channels do ‘re mix, re load’ live broadcasts? you should know better! You are purported to be a journalist, or was a student of journalism at one point in time, where you topped the class I presume ?

@4)… Pedigree is about sire and dam!…. Eg. German shepherd! rings a bell ?

@6)… An apparel does not proclaim or conceal pedigree!

so… you are a fucking communist? Well… I am a fucked-up communist, who believed in that particular ‘ism’ and got pretty disillusioned, while you were still contemplating about your grant entry in to this ‘one of the best places to live’, securely cloistered in the fallopian tube of your dam!

    SO… NOW…. My Neo Comrade,
Can I pour you another patyala peg of Smirnoff?…
what about some ‘mitcher’ to compensate for RED chilly ‘touchings’???
    Cheers Son!
by the way, I turned fifty (50) two (2) months ago!
    FIFTY… NOT OUT !
ONE MORE THING THAT DOUBLE “E” IS HOW MY NAME IS SPELT IN MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE!…. I HAVE ONE SUCH DOCUMENT , YOU KNOW;-)

to delete my comment. Guess you saw it too late ‘n the damage was already done!
    Sorry Cris. Truly.

  7. “Civilizations have arisen in other parts of the world. In ancient and modern times, wonderful ideas have been carried forward from one race to another…But mark you, my friends, it has been always with the blast of war trumpets and the march of embattled cohorts. Each idea had to be soaked in a deluge of blood….. Each word of power had to be followed by the groans of millions, by the wails of orphans, by the tears of widows. This, many other nations have taught; but India for thousands of years peacefully existed. Here activity prevailed when even Greece did not exist… Even earlier, when history has no record, and tradition dares not peer into the gloom of that intense past, even from until now, ideas after ideas have marched out from her, but every word has been spoken with a blessing behind it and peace before it. We, of all nations of the world, have never been a conquering race, and that blessing is on our head, and therefore we live….!
