Daily blogging: Unwise choice?

Mm been thinking. I am almost a daily blogger. And I have a list of blogs I visit everyday, where I take feed from. Some are more regular, some blog monthly, some once in few months. I find that I am very anxious to visit those rare-blogging people as soon as I see a (1) next to their name. “Boy oh boy he/she has finally written woopee”.

Now it was time to look at my blog from another blog reader’s point of view. He/She, if knew my blog for some time would know about my daily blogging habits. So they’d know they will find something new at the end of each day. Now would they hurry to my blog with the same enthusiasm they do to an occasional blogger’s posts? Call me pessimistic, but I think the answer is no.

It’s the same logic you could use in similar scenarios. Someone gets an email from a friend everyday and then one day there is an email from another friend you haven’t heard from in months. Chances are you’d open this other friend’s email first, maybe more out of curiosity.

Sigh, this, I guess is the whole concept of getting taken for granted. My blog is probably in that list of TFG now! Why do I feel a yawn is what comes to the face when someone considers the aforesaid list! 

  1. hehe..who says so??you cud be rite but then, reading ur posts on a daily basis just makes the experience so really wonderful..As in,I get up everyday morning to check out my floaters and der I see ur blog updated,I most naturally expect something new to read and experience and I turn into ur page..Believe me,its just too good this way..And DON’T BE A PESSIMIST OK?? 🙂

  3. As with any community, it’s the variety of approaches and outlooks and styles of writing (etc, etc) that makes the blogging community interesting. We’re all different. Some enjoy and are able to blog every day, whilst this isn’t possible and/or preferable for others. I think you should post as often as you like, regardless, and in the style that you feel comfortable with, because that, in part, reflects who you are. Just enjoy being yourself 🙂

  4. Well, as for me, I have a list of bloggers whom I check out every day, if they have written something. As for a direct link between frequency of posts from the blogger, I don’t think that matters much to me, as all those bloggers equally interests me, some blog everyday, some every week, some once in months… but I pay them a visit everyday, and read in the order I visit – either in the order firefox opens the tabs, or in the order by feed reader gets me the posts 🙂

  8. @nikhil, you just lifted tons of my pessimism! 🙂

@Srijith, you lifted the remaining tons for the day. I am now completely clean of pessimism. What about making this an everyday habit bro? Telling this about my blog I mean 😀

  9. I check your blog out to see “so, what’s the girl on today” 🙂
Its rather nice to see the range and variance of the topics on which you write… kinda a nice break, a fresh perspective, a reminder, that these many, and many more subjects are out there in the world 🙂

As long as you keep writing, I’ll be checking it out with a fresh interest each day.
