New Hartal slogan in Mallu

When I went out with my Mom and Dad today I saw a few people taking a procession against something (after the hartal hours). I didn’t get a chance to see what they were protesting against. But I could see some of them smiling and some talking amongst themselves.

Mom and I were talking about it and then we thought of a plan. We will get out all the people in the building we live in, from all the apartments and start a procession of our own. In Mallu, our protest words would be this – “Ingulab sindabad, chumma samaram sindabad”. That would translate to striking for no reason and announcing it proudly.

At least we are honest when we are striking for no reason!

  1. Too bad Cris, you can’t join our new site. We have just completed a site to protest against all hartals. The site – http://www.boycotthartal.org – is targeted at all of us who are sick of all these hartals. I don’t know why our beloved political parties can’t just give us a break. We need to protest to get our right to not protest. How ironic.

  4. @Anoop – There are many in our land, who has only one core competency / skill set – hartal management & mobilization. Avarkkum jeevikkendae? 😉 I wonder if we can leverage on this social phenomenon, and provide managed IT solutions to political parties for organizing high-productive, cost-effective, bleeding-edge hartals!

  8. That is not fair! What will the countless people in politics who know nothing better do? They also need something to do…at least one or two hartals when they get bored 😛

  10. I find the usage of “mallu” for “malayalam” really uncomfortable. According to me, it borders on being insulting even.

  14. @shail, hehe… Really that should be the slogan for all of ’em hartals! None of them has a reason you know!
