Story of a lost journalist

Back to the past

At last it happened. After 7 years Ms CC visited her school again. And it wasn’t just another visit. It was a visit taken care to be packed with all elements of eccentricity, organized and directed by Ms CC.

Ms CC and her friend Ms GL made sudden plans for a school visit. Ms GL who has lost almost all gray cells from her upper part made a great companion to Ms CC who lost them all 😀

That’s when Ms CC had a bright idea.

“We should go in our old uniforms”

“No way!” – this from GL

“Come on GL! We have got to do these things sometimes in life. Otherwise it’s just existing, it’s not living” – CC started her favorite speech.

After a tug of war GL won. So CC went in her uniform with a plainly dressed GL. Passersby’s probably stared at an odd looking female dressed for school on a Sunday. CC ducked under GL and GL consoled her by looking at her and guffawing.

Reaching the school, sneaking in was the first major task. Watchmen have this habit of throwing anything that crossed the borders they guarded, 750 miles away; especially when ‘anything’ came in the shape of CC and GL. In no mood for flying, GL devised a flawless super intelligent plan.

Step 1: Taking brisk steps without making noise

Step 2: Turning invisible

Step 3: A quick marathon race to the indoors.

All steps neatly executed, the 2 wise ladies were inside. CC wanted to go on sneaking through the entire campus. GL who never left her goody 2 shoes she got in age 2, went to get permission. All that while, CC roamed around, peeping into classrooms, looking left and right for possible security guard attacks.

GL returned with the green card 🙂

Classroom after classroom the 2 of them ran into. Ah the old classes of VII-C, IX-C, X-C…

CC left a message on each of the newly painted black boards. CC jumped on desks and chairs and relived old memories. GL was busy with her camera most of the time. She took a picture of her sitting, she took a picture of her standing, she took a picture of her between sitting and standing 17 times at each corner of the school.

The 2 climbed to all floors and all rooms. There were lots added and lots deleted. They sat on the big stadium and sang the old prayers together (few words missing, few lines hissing); they ran in to the old prohibited areas (which were seemingly still prohibited); they smelled and sniffed, they laughed and jumped; they played old games inside the class rooms like they used to once up on a time (this included touching the windows invented by Ms CC and jumping on the floor every 5 minutes, also invented by CC). They went around the merry-go-round and see-saws till they saw symptoms of the children’s park collapsing into pieces. For 5-year olds they were not and heavy they were!

They watched in awe, they watched in respect, and they would have continued watching in awe and watching in respect if GL didn’t chance up on her watch and utter a screech in pitch 9 “It is late!!!”

Soon the city was hit by a maddening wind and rain that soaked the place in a matter of minutes. GL ran down the ground and up the trees clicking her camera and predicting a tree would fall on top of her any minute. Unfortunately her predictions never came true. So she came out un-tree-topped.

And after losing a couple of races to the old school bell and the old school tree to GL, CC with a heavy heart glued herself to a few walls in the school. GL unglued her and stepped out of the premises after a few final glances. The next trip wont take 7 years long, they decided. With a feeling of leaving something behind, they walked on, and on. And ‘something’ spelled b-e-s-t y-e-a-r-s.

  4. @Cris – you must put a tag – fiction – for people clueless about imagination like Deepak and me 🙂 – so as to identify that the posts are fiction :)). Or better not, and keep all of us guessing :))
